Deutsche Glasfaser has announced that its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network now reaches more than 400 municipalities, passing around 630,000 private customers and over 5,000 businesses. The operator plans, builds and operates open access fibre-optic connections for households and companies, providing speeds of at least 300Mbps. Originally founded by the investment company Reggeborgh, Deutsche Glasfaser has been majority owned by KKR since mid-2015.
Last month Deutsche Glasfaser announced an agreement to cooperate with Vodafone Germany on the expansion of fibre-optic networks for residential customers. Under the wholesale partnership, Deutsche Glasfaser will deploy FTTH networks which will be leased to and operated by Vodafone on a long-term basis. Marketing of Vodafone’s services over the infrastructure will begin in Hesse in early 2020.
