Saudi Arabia launches electronic signature service

The electronic signature service has been launched for banks in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha sponsored the event for the launching of the service at the Banque Saudi Fransi, the first bank to employ electronic signatures in the Kingdom.

Tuesday's event was attended by a number of keynote officials from the banking and technology sectors.

Alswaha, at the launching, stressed that electronic signatures sit at the heart of digital transformation and pointed out that the ministry works on enabling individuals and institutions of benefiting from technology.

This comes in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to boost the role of the telecommunications sector and its role in building a digital community, government and economy.

With the inauguration of the service, the electronic signature service will soon be available to individuals in all banking services.

This will present a new quantum leap for electronic and digital transactions in the Kingdom and improve the experience of the beneficiary, making fast transactions possible.

The leap in technology stands to save paper consumption in the Kingdom.
