ZET-Mobile expands LTE in 20 regions

Tajik mobile operator ZET-Mobile has announced the completion of a large-scale LTE network expansion project, installing new 4G base stations operating in the 800MHz and 2100MHz bands across at least 20 cities/regions.

In a statement on its website, the cellco confirmed that during December 2019 it switched on new LTE sites in Tursun-Zade, Vahdat, Gissar, Buston, Guliston, Bohtar, Kushonien, Kulyab, Kabadiyan, Balkhi, Rudaki, Khujand, Dangara, Istaravshan, Yavan, Devashtich, Spitamen, J Balkhi, Shakhrituz and Khuroson. General director Mahshulov Parviz declared: ‘ZET-Mobile plans in 2020 to continue to modernise the backbone network and the radio access network, as well as launch the first segment of the fifth generation network in Tajikistan, thereby ensuring the availability of the latest communication technologies to the citizens of our country.’

ZET-Mobile (registered as Tacom) previously operated under the Beeline brand, but adopted its current identity in June 2019 following the sale of the company by VEON to local venture ZET Mobile a year earlier. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database says that ZET Mobile is reportedly owned by Hasan Asadullozoda, the brother-in-law of Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon.
