Eir has completed the upgrade of the first 529 mobile sites as part of its EUR 150 million mobile network investment programme.
The upgraded sites can deliver 4G mobile data speeds of up to 350 Mbps, with typical speeds of around 100 Mbps. Sites which are 5G-enabled will deliver peak download speeds of 1 Gbps for 5G customers.
The Eir 4G mobile network now covers 98 percent of Ireland's population and 92 percent of its geography, with geographical coverage set to reach 99 percent nationwide once the investment programme is completed. To date, 11 counties have achieved 99 percent population coverage, and three have reached 99 percent geographical coverage.
