Dr. Ghada Wali, Minister of Social Solidarity and Chairman of Nasser Social Bank, and Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Nasser Social Bank and Orange Egypt to promote the cooperation between the two parties, provide job opportunities for the youth, and expand the provision of financial and integrated telecommunication services in all governorates of Egypt. The MoU was signed by Dr. Sherif Farouk, Deputy Chairman of Nasser Social Bank and Eng. Yasser Shaker, CEO and Managing Director of Orange Egypt.
During the signing ceremony, the Minister of Solidarity highlighted that the bank gives considerable importance to the community through establishing partnerships and mobilizing the efforts and capabilities of various civil society institutions to enable them to effectively work and produce, and promote their economic participation. In addition, the bank is concerned with human development and social and economic projects to boost productivity to eliminate unemployment rates, promote youth, and encourage their investments.
Dr. Amr Talaat pointed out that this agreement represents a model of partnership between the government and the private sector. Furthermore, it represents a new step towards “Digital Egypt”. He pointed to the fruitful cooperation between the Ministries of Communications and Information Technology and Social Solidarity to provide outstanding services to citizens, the most important of which is the use of post offices spread all over Egypt for pensions disbursement, in addition to the cooperation to implement Wazeefa Tech Initiative.
On the other hand, Dr. Sherif Farouk said that this MoU aims to define the terms and conditions of the cooperation between the two parties. Under this agreement, outlets will be established to provide the services and products of Orange and Nasser Bank. A unified design will be created for these outlets, with a unified slogan at the level of the Republic. He indicated that this agreement seeks to provide job opportunities for youth to achieve the goals of sustainable development and to make the best use of available resources, ensuring the provision of a dignified life for them, in light of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi regarding the support of youth.
For his part, Eng. Yasser Shaker, CEO and Managing Director of Orange Egypt, explained that this agreement is one of the successful partnerships between the private sector and the public sector, supported by the Ministry of Social Solidarity’s contributions to achieve such inevitable results.
“We are proud to deliver digital services to more than 150 villages in remote areas as an initial phase, providing government services in a faster and easier manner. This will contribute to the provision of job opportunities for youth while at the same time facilitate the daily lives of citizens, as they can now go to the nearest Orange outlets, without the need to travel long distances to fulfill their needs” he added.
