In an announcement released Friday, Samsung said that starting in 2020, it will “provide 4G LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) and 5G radio access networks solutions to Videotron, a Canadian telecommunications operator. This is the first time Samsung is delivering network solutions in Canada.”
The geographical area serviced by Videotron’s telecommunications, which launched in 2010, is smaller but it competes with national carriers Rogers, Bell and Telus who, as CP reported, “have each spent billions in recent years to upgrade their networks.”
“This partnership will allow us to deliver the most advanced telecommunications solutions to Quebecers,” said Jean François Pruneau, President and Chief Executive Officer of Videotron. “While 4G technology has profoundly transformed telecommunications in the world, LTE Advanced and 5G will undoubtedly revolutionize the way we interact with our loved ones and the environment around us.”
