EE has switched on its first 5G sites in Liverpool.
The city is among 14 locations across the UK to benefit from the provider's network, with EE being the first to launch 5G in the UK in May this year.
Since then, it has been building its network on a daily basis.
Marc Allera, chief executive of BT's consumer division, said: "Switching on 5G in more places is helping us deliver the best mobile experience to our customers, keeping them connected to the things that matter most.
"RootMetrics' early 5G testing shows that we are a long way ahead in terms of 5G performance and our engineers are continuing to build new sites every day."
Liz Needleman, BT Group regional lead for the North of England, added: "I'm really pleased that 5G has launched in Liverpool and it will bring a host of benefits to both consumers and businesses.
"From faster speeds to better connections, 5G is set to play a pivotal role in our lives."
