Russian mobile operators add 30% more LTE base stations in first 10 months

The four major Russian mobile operators raised their total number of LTE base stations by 30 percent year-on-year in January-October, according to a study by federal telecommunications regulator Roskomnadzor. The operators owned more than 318,000 LTE base stations on 01 November.

Mobile operator Megafon led, running 106,038 LTE base stations, and MTS followed with 73,759 LTE base stations. The figures for Tele2 Russia and Beeline totaled 74,434 and 64,032 LTE base stations respectively.

LTE base stations made up 40 percent of all the four operators' base stations on 01 November, up by 5 percentage points since the beginning of the year.

The operators owned 38,046 LTE base stations in Moscow, 28,362 LTE base stations in the Moscow region, 16,541 LTE base stations in St Petersburg and 15,578 LTE base stations in the Krasnodar region.
