MTS Belarus boosts 4G coverage in Minsk and other main cities

MTS Belarus says it is continuing to improve 4G LTE mobile broadband speeds, noting that since July this year, more than 260 LTE base transceiver stations (BTS) have been launched in the 1800MHz and 2600MHz frequency bands. In the three-month period, MTS – which uses the communal network of national infrastructure provider Belarusian Cloud Technologies (beCloud) – switched on 193 new 1800MHz BTS, primarily in the capital Minsk and in regional centres.

Meanwhile, for the first time, it took advantage of BTS operating at 2600MHz in ten settlements of the Minsk and Vitebsk regions, namely: Gorodok, Borovlyany, Gatovo, Kolodishchi, Machulishchi, Privolnoye, Ratomka, Senitsa, Shchomyslitsa and Sloboda. Furthermore, the cellco noted that base stations in the 2600MHz band were modernised in Minsk, Gomel, Grodno and Zhodino, as it continued efforts to improve mobile broadband speeds and deepen coverage in both spectrum bands.
