A1 Telekom Austria plans to launch commercial 5G services on 1 January 2020, the firm’s CEO Marcus Grausam told Kleine Zeitung.
Network coverage will initially be available in selected areas of all federal states, although nationwide availability could reportedly take up to five years to achieve.
With regards to fixed broadband expansion, Grausam added that A1 now reaches around 50% of Austrian homes with speeds of 50Mbps and above, while 80% of households can access connection rates of up to 30Mbps.
