Russian watchdog checks mobile coverage on motorways

Russian regulator Roskomnadzor checked the coverage of mobile networks for four major mobile operators on 32 federal motorways in the third quarter. Full coverage was defined on 16 motorways, including the M-1 Belarus, A-132, M-2 Crimea, M-3 Ukraine, M-10 Russia and A-180 Narva.

The worst coverage was defined on two Siberia-based motorways. The coverage of the network of mobile operator MTS totaled 73.3 percent on the P-257 Yenisey motorway. For Megafon, Beeline and Tele2 Russia, coverage was determined at 76.8 percent, 62.8 percent and 76.8 percent, respectively. On the A-360 Lena motorway, coverage went to 66.6 percent for MTS, 78.4 percnet for Megafon, 28 percent for Beeline and 3.9 percent for Tele2 Russia.

Coverage of GSM-900/1800 (2G) and IMT-2000/UMTS (3G) networks was taken into account.
