Serbia's first 5G base station launched in Belgrade

Serbia's first 5G base station has been launched at the Belgrade Science and Technology Park, which will enable companies, entrepreneurs and students of technical sciences to use the 5G environment to develop a variety of technological solutions.

For the time being, the environment is only available at the Park as part of a test phase but Telenor representatives said there was a plan to make it a commercial service in about a year.
In addition to transfer speeds 10 to 100 times faster than those currently available, 5G offers better coverage and suffers from almost no lag.

It is expected to be the most widely used in automation and control of production processes, medicine, public utility services and the agriculture and automotive industries.

Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic said the environment was a step forward and that he was glad Serbia was one of the first countries in the region to experimentally launch a 5G base station.
