Taiwan’s Asia Pacific Telecom (APT) has said that, as it looks ahead to the country’s forthcoming auction of 5G-suitable spectrum in December this year, it is seeking capital to fund a possible future network deployment.
According to The Taipei Times the operator has already secured a syndicated loan of TWD7 billion (USD224 million) for spectrum acquisition, and its chairman Lu Fang-ming was cited as saying that it ‘will definitely bid’ for frequencies when they are offered. Meanwhile, APT is said to be arranging another syndicated loan and preparing for the issuance of new shares to underpin any infrastructure rollout, though the executive reportedly stopped short of specifying how much the operator is looking to raise.
