Big 3 mobile operators apply for 5G licences in Thailand

The three big mobile operators of Thailand have submitted applications to buy three 700-megahertz spectrum licences, each set at 17.58 billion baht.

Each of the three operators selected the spectrum slot it wanted to buy. If more than one operator wants any one of the slots, the price rises.

Takorn Tantasith, the secretary-general of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, said each licence contains 10MHz of bandwidth and runs for 15 years.

The terms of payment involve a 10-year installment plan starting from Oct 15, 2020, he added.

True Move H Universal Communication was the first operator to submit a proposal, followed by Advanced Info Service and Total Access Communication (DTAC).
