Proximus updates TV platform with Android box

Belgian operator Proximus is revamping its TV service with a multiplatform offer and a new Android TV box.

The new name Pickx has already been introduced to subscribers. It will be available through TV, computer or smart phone with much the same look and feel.

It’s accompanied by the strapline, think possible.

From October the TV platform will be known as Pickx with the Proximus TV brand gradually being phased out. It’s less than as year since Proximus last updated its TV proposition, at the time introducing the V6 set-top box.

The new V7 is based on Android P, also known as Android Pie, and running Android TV.

Viewers will be able to view linear TV, YouTube and Netflix. There are also plans for other TV services, catch-up and personalised advertising.

The V7 is 4K compatible.

Gaming fans will also be pleased following an agreement with Shadow, a start-up that is currently deploying a cloudgaming platform.
