Venezuela to broaden communications in remote areas with fiber optics

According to the general director of the Venezuelan National Telecommunications Commission, Jorge Elieser Marquez, over 5,500 kilometers of material are available to all operators for connecting areas of difficult access.

The Eighth Project of the National Transport Network was subsidized with resources from the Universal Service Fund that CONATEL manages, to assist in the development of the telecommunications infrastructure, he indicated.

The deployment of this network will serve about 200 municipalities to benefit mainly the western part of the country, the Los Andes area and the southern axis, he added.

On the other hand, Manuel Fernandez, president of the National Telephone Company known as 'Compañia Anonima Nacional Telefonos de Venezuela,' highlighted the process of implementing this project, which has been developed in several phases to improve the connection in those regions.

Fernandez explained that as part of the plan, the construction and installation of 203 nodes nationwide was completed.
