SFN partners with Sunrise and Salt on FTTH rollout

Fiber infrastructure joint venture Swiss Fibre Net (SFN) has announced plans to expand fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) coverage to more than two million households over the next five to ten years.

In order to achieve this target, the company will focus on integrating existing FTTH systems into the SFN network, whilst services will be marketed by ISP partners Salt and Sunrise.

To that end, the three operators – Salt, Sunrise and SFN – have signed a cooperation agreement that regulates investment in SFN, and under which SFN will be responsible for acquisitions and rollout projects. During this process, SFN said it would first approach network partners that already own or operate fibre networks as well as those that are converting their existing systems to fibre. The SFN FTTH network will be available on a non-discriminatory basis to all of its service partners.
