PT Smartfren Telecom (Smartfren) has announced that under its ongoing 4G LTE rollout programme, it has switched on advanced mobile services in the areas of Balikpapan and Samarinda in East Kalimantan.
Smartfren Deputy CEO Djoko Tata Ibrahim confirmed the news in a statement yesterday (22 May) noting that the company is offering a promo to encourage users to sign up: pay IDR30,000 (USD2.06) to receive two Smartfren Samba starter cards that normally cost IDR120,000. The official confirmed that buyers will get a total 4G internet quota of 30GB, ten minutes of free calls to other operators’ networks, and free unlimited calls to fellow Smartfren numbers. Further, it will give users a 4G internet quota bonus of 10GB or 30GB by topping up (IDR30,000 or IDR60,000).
The cellco’s expansion in Samarinda covers the districts of Loa Janan Ilir, Samarinda Ilir, Samarinda Kota, Samarinda Seberang, Samarinda Ulu, North Samarinda, Sambutan, Sungai Kunjang, and Sungai Pinang. In Balikpapan, Smartfren services are present in the West, South, North and Central sub-districts and will soon also operate in East Balikpapan.
