Satellite operator OneWeb has expressed its intention to install telecommunications infrastructures to facilitate internet access in rural areas in Angola, in a meeting with Angola president Joao Lourenco. According to OneWeb chairman Greg Wyler, the project is expected to start in 2020 and the aim is to provide connectivity to all rural areas within two or three years.
The project in Angola is part of the company's global plan to accelerate the development of the first global satellite telecom network by 2021, with a system of wireless broadband access everywhere on Earth.
