Roland Garros will again be the location for a series of new technology demonstrations by France Televisions.
Throughout the fortnight of clay court tennis (May 26 to June 9) the French public broadcaster is partnering with Orange to deliver 8K quality pictures over the new 5G standard.
France Televisions is installing an 8K platform where invited visitors will be able to watch the production process. It’s anticipated that 100 hours of live content will be produced for delivery over satellite and VOD.
Seventeen cameras will capture the action on the Philippe Chatrier Court and 14 on the Suzanne Lenglen. There will also be dedicated netcams and a Spidercam above the
Philippe Chatrier Court.
Coverage will be broadcast in HD on France 2, France 3 and Drance 4.
The 8K signal will be available on DTH platform Fransat and Orange TV and 8K pictures in the France Télévisions showroom.
Augmented virtual reality retransmissions are also planned, on screen and on mixed reality glasses.
