Tunisia's Challenge One satellite to launch with Russia's Soyuz

Tunisia’s first ‘Challenge One’ satellite is to be launched from the Russian Soyuz-2.1a, integrated with the Fregat upper stage, following a signing between Telnet Group and GK Launch services.

Mohamed Frikha, CEO of Telnet and Alexander Serkin, CEO of GK Launch Services formalised the agreement at a ceremony at the Sfax Digital Research Center.

Challenge One will give Tunisia new concepts in the information technologies and their practical applications. Results of in-orbit operation will be used for building a constellation of 30 spacecraft, Telnet said.

One year after the first announcement of the satellite project, Telnet presented the achievements of their designers during the first public in-lab demonstration of the Challenge satellite.

An agreement on cooperation in the field of aerospace R&D between the company and the Digital Research Center of Sfax was also signed during the event.
