Etisalat marked UAE Innovation Month with a series of workshops, lectures, educational activities, and competitions alongside the launch of its innovative products to instil a spirit of creativity and research.
Etisalat is committed to driving innovation and inspiring collaboration in line with the vision of the nation’s leadership. Innovation has always been at the core of Etisalat’s business operations, and these initiatives during UAE Innovation Month are in line with Etisalat’s efforts to support the country’s innovation strategy.
Technology enthusiasts actively participated in a debate on ‘Artificial Intelligence versus Humans’, while experts in the field of Artificial Intelligence engaged the audience in thought-provoking discussions on ‘The Possibilities in AI: Inspiring Ideas’ and ‘The Dark Side of Artificial Intelligence’ at Etisalat’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
A talk on ‘Innovation and Technology Trends in the Telecom Industry’ highlighted unleashing to power of 5G, cloud security trending technologies, Internet of Things, AI, augmented reality and virtual reality in marketing, advertising, manufacturing and healthcare, among others.
Etisalat’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah also played host to seminars on ‘Creativity and Innovation’ and ‘Design Thinking – Latest Techniques in Creative Problem Solving and Innovative Thinking’.
The “Innovative Projects Exhibition” showcased the innovative Outstanding Project Award Contribution (OPCA) in the fields of art, engineering and business such as sorting robotics arms, smart apps, interactive AR/VR apps, blockchain, smart medical solutions, Wi-Fi home zone, an old service layer network offload, a virtualised evolved packet core, among others. The event also featured employees’ participation in 15-minute talks called Speak15, an initiative founded by the Etisalat Youth Programme that seeks to enhance the knowledge exchange internally by providing a platform between subject matters experts and the youth community within Etisalat. Etisalat Innovation Ideas 2019, an intra-department idea online competition, was also organised for employees.
University students were given an opportunity to learn about Etisalat Digital’s value proposition and an overview of its portfolio during a tour of Etisalat’s Open Innovation Centre in Dubai. Etisalat employees shared their expertise and insights into various innovative projects and initiatives and the role of Etisalat in driving the digital future to empower societies during workshops held at the centre.
Etisalat collaborated with the Ministry of Interior under its Aqdar initiative during Safer Internet Day to raise awareness about online safety issues and promote the positive use of digital technology through our social media platforms.
Think Science Fair, organised by Emirates Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, was actively promoted and shared on Etisalat’s social media platforms.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Innovation Month is a consolidated effort by the government, the private sector and individuals to help create a widespread culture of innovation in the UAE. The month-long festival aims to contribute to strengthening the country's position as a global hub for innovation and to celebrate innovation in the UAE and support the national innovation strategy.
