Saudi digital solutions company Elm recently held an introductory session in Riyadh for its Eshara service, under the theme “We hear you with our solutions.”
Eshara enables the deaf to be fully independent and self-reliant in concluding various service procedures by providing interactive interpretation to and from sign language between the service provider and the deaf beneficiary, through a digital platform based on an integrated, communicative infrastructure between service parties.
Writing is not an ideal medium to aid the deaf since written Arabic is a secondary language for the deaf. Therefore, this secure, interactive video chat platform was built in order to improve services for the deaf community and help them communicate better, which contributes to increasing efficiency in formal transactions in the public and private sectors, while ensuring flexibility, privacy and independence in conducting transactions.
Eshara offers a smartphone application that can be downloaded from Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Users need to register their personal data to receive a notification that indicates whether the nearby area is covered by Eshara or not.
