Turkey’s Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) has approved applications by the country’s three mobile network operators Turkcell, Vodafone and Turk Telekom (Avea) to conduct 5G trials in different frequency bands in the largest three cities Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara this year, reports YeniSafak.com.
Minister of Transport & Infrastructure Cahit Turhan was quoted as saying that Turkey will be a ‘frontrunner’ in 5G rollout, stating: ‘We aim to achieve the goal of shifting to 5G technologies in 2020 through research and product development.’
