Chinese online entertainment company iQIYI is partnering Thai telecommunications company AIS and China Unicom Global to deliver its Qisubu streaming service to select hotels in Thailand.
The move marks the first time a Chinese online video platform operator has collaborated with a foreign telco to offer on-demand services overseas.
Hotel brands frequently visited by Chinese tourists, including 99 Heritage Hotel, Villa Siri Lanna Hotel, Ping Viman Hotel and Icon Aonang Hotel are among the first to pilot the initiative. Hotel guests can access iQIYI 4K Blu-ray video content by scanning a QR code through the company’s app.
Guests will also have access to iQIYI’s TV Guo screen casting product, enabling them to watch 4K Blu-ray video on a big screen, controlled with the smartphone.
“The quality of iQIYI’s content is increasingly being recognised across borders, and our new partnership with AIS and CUG to bring HD streaming to Thai hotels is a game changer for the millions of Chinese tourists who visit Thailand on holiday each year,” said Liu Wenfeng, chief technology officer, iQIYI.
“Our partnership with AIS and CUG represents an unprecedented step forward for iQIYI’s services overseas in terms of user experience, copyright protection, and network costs.”
iQIYI said it will continue to expand its digital video services overseas to serve both Chinese tourists and those living abroad.
