Orange France has confirmed it passed twelve million homes and businesses with fiber optic networks by the end of 2018, 9.3 million via infrastructure deployed with its own equity investment, while 2.5 million were covered by other operators’ networks (with Orange allowed to offer services over the infrastructure).
Orange’s deployments have increased particularly in the less-densely populated areas, with growth of more than 40% in 2018 compared to 2017. The operator has invested EUR9 billion (USD10.2 billion) in the rollout of network infrastructure in France between 2015 and 2018, including EUR3 billion dedicated to fibre. Fabienne Dulac, Deputy General Manager, CEO of Orange France, said: ‘Orange has always been present in the deployment of fibre. It is a very strong commitment and we will continue our investments, both financial and human. More is produced every year and the industrial effort is considerable.’
