Opportunity for SAMENA Telecommunications Council Members to shape WSIS Process and Forum 2019

Within the realm of SAMENA Telecommunications Council’s Priority 1: Digital Services, SAMENA Council is highlighting to its Members the opportunity to shape the Themes and Format of WSIS Forum 2019 by participating in the WSIS Forum 2019 Open Consultation Process (see https://www.itu.int/net4/wsis/forum/2019/Home/Consultations#hltfs). Participating in the Open Consultation enables members to:

  • Share their views on the thematic aspects and innovations on the format of the forum
  • Recommend speakers
  • Request thematic workshops
  • Request exhibition stalls

The deadline is 10 February 2019. WSIS Forum 2019 will be held from the 8-12 April 2019 at the ITU Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

WSIS is the biggest global Information Society Forum for coordination of multi-stakeholder implementation activities, information exchange, creation of knowledge, sharing of best practices and continues to provide assistance in developing multi-stakeholder and public-private partnerships to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

WSIS Forum provides structured opportunities for SAMENA Council Members to network, learn and participate in multi-stakeholder discussions and consultations on WSIS implementation and highlight their own activities, initiatives, projects and partnerships. Key benefits to SAMENA Council Members include corporate visibility; networking on the global stage in a multi-stakeholder environment; recognition of regional / national and local activities/projects/initiatives; rich experience and learning and recognition among peers; opportunities to benchmark regional / national / local capabilities; foster interest in the region / country / operator; attract investment and partnership opportunities; set standards and benchmarks, and serve as a role model.
