Digicel Jamaica now claims to preside over the ‘largest LTE network in the English-speaking Caribbean’ after extending 4G coverage to a total of 200 towns and cities across ten of the country’s 14 parishes. The cellco says that this footprint delivers 65% LTE population coverage.
With reference to Digicel’s plans to achieve 100% LTE coverage, CEO Justin Morin commented: ‘And we’re not finished yet. We have no intention of stopping our expansion of LTE and reaching more towns and cities. We are enjoying a new kind of energy and looking toward solid growth through this investment.’
According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Digicel Jamaica switched on its 700MHz 4G network in June 2016, initially covering Kingston and parts of Montego Bay.
