South Korea’s prime minister, Lee Nak-Yeon, will start a 3-day official visit in Algeria on December 16, 2018.

In the world, South Korea is a reference in terms of tech innovation, research and development as well as in telecommunications and digital governance. The country has a vast experience to share with Algeria, which is currently investing in the transformation of its economy and the improvement of its governance via the digital sector.

"South Korea is a creative country and, it is ready to support Algeria in its development(…) Algeria greatly depends on its oil but the government seems decided to diversify its economy. The sustainable development of Algeria necessarily takes place through the ICT and manufacturing”, Lee Eun-yong, South Korea’s ambassador to Algeria indicated prior to South Korea’s economic and cultural week in Algeria, held on October 11-18, 2018.

"For decades now, Algeria has been an economic market for the Republic of Korea", he added suggesting an intensification of the cooperation between the two nations.

South Korea really initiated IT cooperation with Algeria in 2004 when South Korea’s minister of finance launched the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP).

In 2007, South Korea decided the creation of an "African centre of information and communication technology and advanced technologies" with Algeria. Many investments and trainings have since been conducted.
