PTCL and SCO—the Special Communications Organization has joined hands to lay more than six hundred kilometres of Optical Fibre Cable in FATA for providing data services and the basic telephone services in the region.
Regarding this, an agreement signing ceremony was organized at the Special Communications Organization Head Quarters, Rawalpindi which was attended by the Director General SCO, Dr Daniel Ritz—President of PTCL, Maj General Ali Farhan HI (M) and other senior officials from both the organizations.
Government of Pakistan has started this project after the return of peace in the region together with the merger of FATA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This project has been started for interlinking the different remote areas of the region with the Optical Fibre Cable in FATA under the Universal Services Fund (USF) Program.
The SCO and PTCL because of their diversified experience of working in tough conditions would jointly undertake this project.
The project would play a significant role in the socio-economic surge of the region by bringing modern ICT services to the populace.
