Hutchison 3 Indonesia (Tri) plans to build a total of 8,000 new 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) next year to improve its mobile internet capabilities in the country, with Chief Commercial Officer Dolly Susanto noting the expansion drive will help it reach its target of adding between five and ten million new customers in 2019.
IndoTelko quotes the official as saying that many of the new BTS deployed will be ‘outside Java’. Tri Indonesia currently serves more than 37 million customers throughout Indonesia, with a network stretching from Aceh to Gorontalo. Its network infrastructure currently numbers 55,100 BTS and 16,000km of fibre.
