Dasan Zhone Solutions, Inc. (DZS; NASDAQ: DZSI) says its Korean business unit Dasan Network Solutions has won a contract from LG U+ to supply fiber to the home (FTTH) equipment. The contract, worth more than $40 million, includes the provision of switches, and follows an earlier award for the supply of 5G wireless backhaul technology.
The FTTH award runs for three years, beginning at the start of this month. LG U+ is a unit of LG, established as LG Telecom, Ltd. in 1996 to provide mobile services. It currently provides telecommunications services, hi-speed internet, VoIP, and IPTV services as well as other data services.
“Our team remains focused on developing solutions that support the acceleration of FTTH deployments, offering the best possible internet connection experience.” said Yung Kim, DZS CEO. “With positive references from Tier 1 operators including LG U+, we are pleased to be a vendor of choice for solutions that advance the state of the art in telecommunications networks.”
DZS reports that the mobile equipment award was the result of a co-development initiative with LG U+ for ultra-low-latency 100G mobile backhaul switches. The company says it has begun deliveries of these switches, with first deployments targeted for the Seoul area ahead of nationwide roll out.
