The Open Fiber wholesale-only venture of utility Enel and state lender CDP has teamed up with A2A Smart City and the local city council to announce the launch of work to build a fibre network in Cremona in Lombard in a total investment of over EUR 9 million. The company said it plans to bring FTTH services at speeds of up to 1Gbps to a total of 30,000 households after rolling out some 16,000 kilometres of new cable.
Open Fiber recently said it remains on track to meet its target of 4 million connected homesthroughout Italy by the end of the year, rising to 19 million households and businesses by 2022 in a total investment of around EUR 6.5 billion.
