MBC’s subscription video-on-demand service Shahid Plus is to boost its international content portfolio following a three-year deal to bring the Fox Plus service to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
Thousands of hours of international TV shows and movies will now join the comprehensive portfolio of Arabic programming on MBC’s over-the-top (OTT) platform; already one of the region’s market leaders.
“With the launch of Fox Plus, viewers will be spoilt for choice, with a width of quality content that they don’t get anywhere else. They will have access to thousands of hours of award-winning global TV dramas and movies, fascinating National Geographic documentaries, travel and exploration as well as trendsetting lifestyle shows and even Baby TV,” said Sanjay Raina, general manager and senior vice-president of Fox Networks Group.
“By bringing Fox Plus onto Shahid Plus, we are offering millions of viewers across MENA the content of their choice, at a place, time and device of their choosing. Ours is not only a high potential partnership that has exciting innovation and growth opportunities; it is one that is shaping the future of the Arab media landscape.”
MBC Group CEO Sam Barnett said: “The Arabic-speaking content we present through Shahid Plus is unique and revolutionary across the region, something we have always been proud of. We’re incredibly excited to be collaborating with Fox Networks Group MENA to add thousands of hours of high-quality global content, consisting of series and award-winning National Geographic documentaries.”
“This new agreement carries high ambitions and promising prospects befitting to our Shahid Plus audiences to whom we always promise more.”
Shahid Plus can be accessed online through Shahid.net or as an iOS or Android app. Fox Plus is being offered for no extra cost to additional subscribers of Shahid Plus.
