IPTV and home entertainment technology firm Netgem TV has announced its first customer loyalty partnership deal in the Channel Islands, exclusively with the telecommunications company JT.
The former Jersey Telecom will be offering new and existing customers on the island and on neighbouring Guernsey a Netgem SoundBox packaged with Amazon Prime. In addition by signing up to a JT Pay Monthly mobile plan, customers will be able to get a Netgem SoundBox with Amazon Alexa compatibility plus a year’s worth of Amazon Prime included as well as all Freeview catch-up channels also included. That latter facet means that JT customers who sign up to the deal will now be able to access UKTV programmes from Dave, Drama, Yesterday and Really on- demand through the UKTV Play app. UKTV broadcast channels are out of geographic reach for the Islanders.
“We are delighted to offer the Netgem SoundBox to our customers,” said Dominic Vye, head of commercial development at JT. “The SoundBox coupled with Amazon Prime has an exclusive selection of Prime Originals, thousands of popular movies, TV shows and over 50 million songs. All of which can be streamed in high quality audio in the home on JT’s full-fibre network in Jersey which provides Islanders with some of the fastest internet speeds in the world- all at no extra cost. We’re particularly delighted that our customers will now be able to watch more content through Freeview Play.
“With the aim that great TV doesn’t have to come with hefty monthly bills, the UK TV industry has been launching many skinny bundles with a low entry cost and general pay-as-you-go approach to premium content,” added Sylvain Thevenot, managing director of Netgem TV. “We wanted to push a loyalty-first deal in order to be on top of the great free on-demand TV offered through Freeview Play. Consumers do not systematically want to renew their TV or pay for an expensive deal to enjoy great TV content - so we made this a reality.”
