STC Participates to Strengthen Saudi Arabia’s Presence in the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2018 in Dubai

Saudi Telecom Company(STC) Group, represented on behalf of its Group CEO, Eng. Nasser Al Nasser, by Eng. Zyad AlKhwaiter, GM - Regulatory Affairs, has ensured its active participation in the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2018, currently being hosted by Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA) in Dubai, UAE. STC is also supporting the CITC during the ITU elections.

STC is extending its strategic co-operation and support to Saudi Arabia’s Communication and Information Technology Commission (CITC) in representing Saudi interests and commitment toward digitally transforming the Kingdom; promoting Saudi Arab’s candidacy in the ITU Council as well as its RRB (Radio Regulations Board) Candidate from Region E, Mr. Tariq Alamri; and to take active part in the international decision-making arena.

As a part of its national responsibility of serving as the emblematic digital development and broadband proliferation entity in the Kingdom, STC is also providing complete logistics and organization support to the Saudi delegation, as well as hosting all PP-18 delegates on a fully STC-sponsored luncheon and dinner during the premier international conference of the UN Member States, and distributing the “THIS IS KSA” "هذي السعودية" gifts.

The ITU Plenipotentiary Conference consists of the representatives of the Member States of the Union. It is the highest policy-making body of the ITU. Held every four years, the Conference is the key event at which ITU Member States decide on the future role of the organization, thereby determining the organization’s ability to influence and affect the development of information and communication technologies (ICTs) worldwide.

STC expresses its best wishes to the ITU and to the host country, UAE, for the success of the Plenipotentiary Conference 2018. STC also reiterates its commitment to enabling the fulfillment of Sustainable Development Agenda, to which the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a key signatory.
