Paramount SVOD to be launched in CEE

A Paramount branded SVOD service will launch for the first time in Central and Eastern Europe this month.

Named Paramount Play, it will debut in Poland on the mobile service Play and cable operator Toya, with distribution on other platforms set to follow in the coming months.

CEE will be the second region to roll out Viacom’s Paramount-branded SVOD entertainment aggregate following Paramount+ in the Nordics. Paramount Play will bring together a wide range of movies, series and branded TV content from Paramount Pictures, Comedy Central and MTV. It will also include Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. content.

In Poland, Paramount Play will be available through STBs and within TV everywhere and OTT apps as a standalone service. Affiliate partners’ premium subscribers will be able to access the service for low or no additional cost.

Commenting on the launch, which was announced at PIKE 2018 in Lodz, Bartosz Witak, SVP, general manager for Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) in Central Eastern Europe and Israel, commented: “Paramount Play is an important extension of our content offering for our distribution partners, which will diversify our footprint and bolster our market leading position in CEE. A perfect complement to our linear TV business, this service enables our partners to offer unique, extra content to their premium customers, which will be accessible anytime, anywhere and on any device. Easy navigation between our brands under a single Paramount Play user interface will also boost discoverability of our content more broadly.”
