Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has opted not to extend Total Access Communication’s (DTAC’s) concession in the 850MHz band past its expiry date of 15 September, with 346,000 users set to be disconnected on that date.
In addition, close to one million DTAC subscribers using mobile service on the network’s roaming system will be affected. As reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate last week, DTAC filed a petition for an emergency injunction with the Central Administrative Court for a temporary protection order for its customers to continue using 850MHz mobile services after the licence expiry, though the court decision is still pending.
