Cloud networking provider GTT Communications has announced it is upgrading its fiber network spanning central and eastern Europe with additional high capacity fiber routes.
The company is upgrading its routes between its network points of presence in Germany, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Turkey with next-generation optical technology that will double available capacity per fiber in an initial upgrade.
The company is also adding to its route diversity in the region with a lower-latency route from Budapest to Sofia.
According to GTT president and CEO rick Calder, the upgrade is aimed at enhancing the diversity, scalability and performance of GTT’s Tier 1 global IP network footprint for its enterprise and carrier clients in the region.
“GTT is delivering on its purpose of connecting people across organizations, around the world and to every application in the cloud,” he said.
“Central and eastern Europe is a significant market for GTT, and this network upgrade results in an even stronger set of cloud networking services for our clients.”
