Huawei announced that it will set up a regional logistics centre in Morocco. The infrastructure will be built in Tanger Med, the port near Tangiers on the Mediterranean offering an international logistics hub connected to over 180 ports in the world. During a summit in Beijing on 3-4 September. Peng Zhongyang, vice-president of Huawei, revealed the group’s intention to Saad Eddine El Othmani, Morocco’s prime minister.
The vice president explained that the interest was spurred by Morocco’s exceptional geographic situation, its great political stability, the rich cultural diversity, and the adequate business environment. Peng also informed that Huawei was ready to support Morocco in its digital transformation via the Morocco digital 2020 strategy and share its international experience in technology with Moroccan institutions.
