Vodafone Spain and Grupo MASMOVIL have signed an agreement which will see them share fibre-optic infrastructure connecting up to 1.9 million ‘real estate units’ over the course of the next four years. MASMOVILclaims that the first 942,000 buildings will be ready for connectivity in December, while Vodafone has not provided a timeline for its own deployment.
According to TeleGeography, both operators currently use a mixture of wholesale connections and independently owned fibre. MASMOVIL offers connectivity to some 13 million households, of which 5.1 million are covered by its own networks, while Vodafone offers fibre to around 20.9 million homes and businesses, of which around half are shared deployments.
