As announced earlier this year, De-CIX GlobePEER Remote service is available in Marseille, connecting Marseille to New York and to Frankfurt, as well as to further DE-CIX exchanges. Meanwhile, more than ten customers are live on the connection between Marseille and New York, and Marseille and Frankfurt. It was even possible to start taking customers live thirteen days before the planned ready-for-service date. With the GlobePEER Remote service, networks can easily extend their reach to other DE-CIX locations.
“Adding our GlobePEER Remote service to the service portfolio in Marseille strengthens this strategic location even more. Networks can easily increase the number of possible peering partners, without the hassle of different contracts or partners, just by adding a VLAN to their access in Marseille,” states Theresa Bobis, Regional Director South Europe.
Remote peering with GlobePEER Remote
The DE-CIX platforms in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Dusseldorf, New York, Marseille, and Istanbul are interconnected, and customers can use their existing access to peer remotely at additional DE-CIX locations. So you can peer remotely e.g. in New York with your access in Marseille, or peer remotely in Marseille with your access in Frankfurt. Origin tagging with Informational BGP Communities
To see which networks are peering remotely, the DE-CIX route servers tag all prefixes with certain BGP Communities to indicate their origin. You can use this information to determine where a certain prefix has been injected into the DE-CIX switching platform. This gives you the possibility to filter routes learned from the route servers based on geographical location.
