Chilean operator Entel has topped Chile’s 4G speed ranking for the first time in the latest mobile network report published by OpenSignal, taking over from Claro (America Movil). Entel delivered an average download speed of 18.3 Mbps, ahead of Claro (17.2 Mbps) Movistar (12.3 Mbps) and WOM (10.7 Mbps). All operators apart from Entel saw their 4G speeds decline year on year due above all to increasing numbers of users all vying for capacity on the LTE networks, said OpenSignal.
In the LTE reach category, Movistar was again the clear winner, with users able to latch onto its signal 78.3 percent of the time, well ahead of Entel (75.2%), WOM (74.8%) and Claro (66.3%), with America Movil’s unit posting the biggest growth in OpenSignal’s measurements.
The final ranking for 4G latency saw Entel outperforming its rivals with an LTE reaction time of 39.9ms. WOM trailed by only a few milliseconds, while Claro and Movistar posted scores of 45.1ms and 45.8ms respectively.
