Tri expands 4G network to Gorontalo Province, Sulwesi

Hutchison 3 Indonesia (H3I), branded Tri, has extended its 4G LTE footprint to Gorontalo Province, Sulawesi, increasing the total number of areas covered to 281 cities and districts, and 7,919 villages in Indonesia.

The latest service expansion covers Gorontalo City, Bone Bolango Regency and Gorontalo Regency, the cellco confirmed, supported by 88 3G/4G-enabled base transceiver stations (BTS). Tri Sulawesi Kalimantan Division head of operations Robby Hikmat Permana noted that provinces in Sulawesi, including Gorontalo, are seen as affording ‘great economic potential and significant development growth’ potential for Tri and pointed to recent sharp growth in service traffic in North and South Sulawesi, where 4G LTE services were first made available. Currently, Tri’s coverage in the region includes South Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, parts of West Sulawesi and Gorontalo. ‘Going forward, Tri will develop 4G LTE Tri infrastructure to support service coverage and capacity, by adjusting development in Gorontalo [to support] customer growth,’ Robby added.

Tri’s nationwide mobile broadband network is supported by 55,100 BTS and 14,000km of optical fibre networks.
