Audi and Ericsson have announced how to make a pioneering collaboration to make the cars of this brand incorporate 5G technology, this news was announced at a meeting of the two companies at the headquarters of the automotive industry in Ingolstadt, Germany.
The two companies have agreed to engage in a range of activities to explore the potential of 5G as a communications technology designed to meet Audi’s high standards and standards and to guarantee a better future for its sector the automotive industry.
Audi and Ericsson have said that this collaboration will start over the next few months, where experts from both companies will test at the Audi production workshop in Gaimersheim, Germany. Audi AG’s Intelligence Director Frank Loydl explained that 5G technology could improve even at our ingenious factory in Ingolstadt, saying:
“Our smart factory in Ingolstadt is a true diamond of innovation, and it is estimated that 5G technology will have a significant impact on the production of vehicles of the future. A strong network architecture that can respond in real time is vital to us. As part of this project with our partner Ericsson, we will explore and test the opportunities offered by 5G technology in industrial applications in our smart factory. ”
Audi and Ericsson will also look at whether the 5G can be used in other Audi group plants other than the Ingolstadt plant. Ericsson’s CTO, Erik Ekudden, provided further information on the company’s current 5G plans, saying:
“Ericsson is already running 5G industrial projects around the world to help manufacturers increase their productivity and create new business opportunities to take the lead in the market. This project is a great opportunity to see what we can do with the 5G in a car production environment. ”
During the first phase of the project, Audi and Ericsson will test the latency of this application using the wirelessly connected production robots at the factory, which is a commonly used technique in car manufacturing. We will probably hear more about the partnership of the two companies as soon as their initial testing starts.
