Summer training programme at Omantel, the first and leading provider of integrated telecommunications services in the sultanate, is ongoing for 57 students from various higher education institutions.
The training programme comes as part of Omantel’s efforts to support the sustainable growth of national manpower and help students in preparing themselves for joining the job market by imbibing the goal-oriented culture, professionalism and creativity among many other characteristics that the company boasts of.
In line with its commitment to contribute to the educational sector, Omantel welcomes a specific number of students on board every summer and they are offered training programmes in different fields, including Telecom Engineering, IT, Finance, Accounting, Legal Affairs, Marketing, Press and Media, Public Relations and Translation. That is in addition to the year-round training programmes that the company provides.
Until date, 90 students have been trained this year and more than 400 students were trained in 2017. Moreover, the trainees are supervised by well qualified Omantel staff, who ensure that everything runs smoothly and offer every assistance needed.
Although the vast majority of students who avail the training programmes provided by Omantel are enrolled in local universities and colleges, the company also takes part in building bridges with higher education institutions abroad, and that is by training foreign students through Sultan Qaboos University’s (SQU) partnership with International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE).
Currently, there are three trainees on this programme which Omantel actively supports.
