Ooredoo Maldives has expanded its ‘SuperNet’ fibre-optic broadband service to Maradhoo and Maradhoo Feydhoo, part of the Addu Atoll. Local newspaper Miadhu reports that the rollout was carried out in cooperation with infrastructure partner Addu Cable Communication, which has supported Ooredoo in expanding the network on the island.
The Communications Authority of the Maldives (CAM) awarded an ISP licence to cellco Ooredoo in August 2015 and the firm launched commercial fixed telephony and broadband services in the capital Male in May 2016, notes TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database. Since then, fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services have been expanded to other locations, including Hulhumale, Vilufushi, Kulhudhuffushi and Villingili.
