The first ever official Apple store to open in Saudi Arabia has opened in terminal five of King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) in Riyadh.
King Khalid International Airport T5 Deputy Commercial Director John Rogers said: “We feel that such a world-renown brand offers an exceptional standard of product, which will generate excellent sales while also enhancing the overall passenger experience in terminal five.”
The 75sqm store will offer the latest Apple products, as well as the Apple shop-in-shop concept the brand is famous for. The Apple Store has opened in partnership with Virgin Megastore, which it sits alongside (also 75sqm). The Virgin Megastore offering spans electronics products from other brands, as well as convenience and travel accessories products.
Virgin Megastore General Manager for Saudi Arabia and Lebanon Mohammad Ramadan told DFNI: “Customers can feel, touch and try every product, which will be connected to the internet. All Apple products will include the necessary demonstration software for [a] better experience. In addition, there will be a large screen within the store that will highlight new features.”
The Apple Store only opened today (25 July), but the Virgin Megastore section opened in April. Revealing the early performance of the Virgin Megastore and the ambitions for the Apple Store, Ramadan said: “The Virgin Megastore side of the store achieved 20% higher than our budget within the first month. This gives us great hope for the Apple store.”
