The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) has announced the results of its recently concluded auction of mobile spectrum in the 700MHz band.
A total of 2×20MHz was allocated, with the successful bidders confirmed as Vodacom Tanzania, which acquired 2×10MHz for a total price of USD10.005 million, and Azam Telecom, which paid USD10.000 million for the remaining 2×10MHz. The new licences include the following coverage obligation: population coverage for broadband services meeting the specified quality of service level should be equal to 60% by the end of 2021, rising to 90% by end of 2024.
