Flow Dominica to extend 4G LTE to mass market from next month

Mobile operator Flow (Dominica) is gearing up to extend the availability of 4G LTE services to the consumer market segment from next month, Caribbean news portal Da Vibes reports. To this end, the cellco – owned by Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC), part of Liberty Latin America (LLA) – has launched an initiative to encourage customers to transition to the new technology. The company has partnered with HHV Whitchurch & Co, agents for Carib Beer, to reward customers for upgrading their SIM cards to the new 4G LTE network. Over 200 customers will win tickets to attend Carib Beer Hype on June 30th at the Newtown Savannah, the report says.

In October 2014 Flow (Dominica), announced the launch of the country’s first 4G data network, confirming that its ‘Superfast 4G’ network would be offered to business users only, providing data-only tariff plans. The parent group invested more than USD4.5 million to deploy its island-wide 4G network operating in the 700MHz band, and rolled out 54 base stations covering the majority of the island. The 4G deployment was completed by the end of October 2014.
